Should you choose SquareSpace for your membership site?

As a web developer, I have worked with all kinds of CMS platforms, including SquareSpace, Wix, GoDaddy, WebFlow, WordPress, and Shopify. Over time, these platforms have started to compete by offering similar features, but each still has its own strengths and weaknesses. Some platforms even lack certain capabilities altogether. That’s why it’s crucial to understand your website’s needs before choosing a CMS.

Otherwise, you risk setting up all your content only to find out that the platform you chose doesn’t support a necessary feature for your business.

In 2020, SquareSpace released the “Member Areas” (also called “Member Sites) feature. Before this, creating a member-based website on SquareSpace involved numerous workarounds and annoying complexities. In the past, I would never have recommended SquareSpace for a membership-based site. However, with the introduction of “Member Areas,” some things have changed, and I now recommend SquareSpace for some specific cases…
